MY BIRTHDAY CHALLENGE

I am posting this first blog entry today, on my birthday. My 49th birthday. After years of avoiding putting pen to paper, or in this case, fingers to keyboard, I am jumping on the blogging bandwagon. Why? Because if I post things on a BLOG I’ll presumably feel like I have to keep up with it and it’ll help me with the project I am starting today.

The project that I am beginning on this birthday is a year-long plan to refine who I am. What do I mean by that? Well, I already know WHO I am, and I actually like myself – love myself a lot. However, there are parts of my being that I am less in touch with. So the plan is to SYSTEMATICALLY approach these different areas, and actively work on developing or reconnecting with them by means of different techniques/philosophies/experts.

So, by posting this process, I’ll stick with it (instead of leaving it unfinished as is my wont) and, at the same time, hopefully my experiences will help other people, or at the very least, amuse them.

Below is a table I made for myself to help me get organized:

AREAS TO IMPROVE METHODS RESOURCES
Personal

Professional

Spiritual

Health

Astrology

Coaching

Diet and nutrition

Exercise and training

Feng shui

Tarot

Therapy

Qigong and meditation

Other

Astrologer

Coach

Dietitian

Trainer

Feng shui practitioner,

decluttering coach

Tarot reader

Psychiatrist

Qigong instructor

It won’t be the first time that I will be using any of the above methods or disciplines. I have been practicing qigong and meditating for 6 years now and I actually see an astrologer and Tarot reader regularly. The difference is that I am going to use them to explore all areas at once, in an organized and coordinated manner, within a specific period of time, while maintaining ongoing notes and observations. So I am doing a ‘pseudo’ case study on myself J.

In the next few weeks I’ll crystallize my ideas, plot out a rough timeline, choose the different tools and the system I’d like to implement . . . all of which will inevitably be subject to tweaking and changes I go along.

Well that’s the idea! And while I don’t want to take myself too seriously, I do want to take this project seriously.  I’m very excited about this whole thing, actually. I haven’t felt creatively challenged in some time and I feel that this will give me a really great motivation.

Using my next birthday as a landmark date is also very motivating as I’ll get to organize AN ABSOLUTELY KICKASS 50th birthday bash!
